Rain Season Activities in Mal Pais / Santa Teresa

The green season is one of the best times of the year to visit the Southern Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica.

The busiest time of the year in Costa Rica for tourism starts in December and ends in the middle of April. This is also the dry season, or what the locals call summer. It is not very likely that you will see rain during this season but that is not to say that it is impossible. For a handful of travelers who visit from a northern hemisphere, the warm dry sunny days are a nice welcome when they sprawl out on the beaches. Quite a change from the cold rainy winter they just left behind.

After the hustle and bustle of the busy season things began to change in Santa Teresa. The rains starts to come and the jungle begins to come alive. This is one of the best times to visit the area and take part of some of the fun activities in the area.

SUP Tours in Mal Pais / Santa Teresa

P1020214Another good things about the rain season, also known as the green season, is that waves from the southern hemisphere start creeping in around the end of April. This lights up some of the reef breaks that normally sit dormant during the dry season. If the waves get flat, which might happen for a day or two during this time, we like to go Paddle Boarding with Andy over at Freedom Riding in Mal Pais.

An SUP tour is a great way to get exercise and see the coastline from a different perspective. Andy has a great collection of rental boards for all kinds of conditions. He also is a qualified instructor and tour guide having spent over twenty years in the area. Contact Us is you would like to find out more.
